What is punishment for a ticket for possession narcotic paraphernalia, minor in pos. of alcohol & tobacco?

We live in Texas and my 17 year old daughter got tickets for minor in possession of alcohol (some one left a liquor bottle in her truck), minor in possession of tobacco (she had cigarettes in her truck) and possession narcotic paraphernalia (her boyfriend left some cigars in her truck and the police found a minute amount of marijuana). A friend of mine said since it was just a ticket (she didn't get arrested) it was no big deal and we didn't need a lawyer, she would just have to pay fines and it would be on her record, but these tickets look like a big deal to me. What should we do?
