Does he like me as a girlfriend?

Ok we were in the same grade until he failed last year. I am a freshmen in high school and he is in 8th grade. He use to come over and we would do our homework and play around like go sledding in the winter and play basketball in the spring. I would always bring up the subject like my friend thinks I like and you and I told him I don't but I really do. So does he like me as a girlfriend please help. I am 13 and he is 15 he just turned 15 i July.
