Are we collectively a "ship of fools," living in a "fool's paradise," running "fools' errands?"

Technological prowess is advancing at an ever-the-more mind-numbing pace. Our point: we are somatically desensitized to the inevitable logical "end-game" of all this; We know, believe us, that computer/alternative cybernetic environments are soon to become sentient unless some divine intervention comes to "the rescue." So we ask some rhetorical questions, "In our arrogance, did "God" intervene during the "Cold War" & nuclear proliferation?" No, it is more likely that we are being given "enough rope to hang ourselves." So what of our "humanity" when we become "obsolete?" To increase short-term profits, and cut "overhead," a "replacement mentality" is becoming ever-the-more prevalent via robotics, etc., all to satisfy the "board of directors." So are we to be victims of our own complacency and self-deceit? Our denial seems to be an inherently fatal(?) flaw. Activism is now benign & "half-hearted," and, the "ostrich effect" and "autonomy-withdrawl syndrome" is alive and well.
