In my computer science cl why were some of the guys mean to me?

They were condescending, saying stuff like "I wouldn't expect a girl to know that" or "don't try doing this, a girl wouldn't be able to solve this" etc. The professor egged them on. I got the second highest grade in the cl, but they still look down on me for being female. How do I deal with them in my IT cl next semester?.
